7. Research activity
The research has been conducted in normal and neuropsychological patients and focuses mainly on: i) mechanisms and neural bases of cognitive control, with particular attention to inhibitory control; ii) interaction between cognition and emotion: analysis of the role of emotional components in perceptual processes and in the recognition of complex stimuli, such as faces and objects; iii) cognitive-affective modulation in natural and artificial environments: investigation of the effects of green/natural vs. artificial environmental contexts on cognitive and affective processes, explored both in real situations and in virtual environments. These topics are investigated using behavioral measures, EEG, TMS, and fMRI.
