SINTESI ATTIVITA’ DI RICERCA E DI TRASFERIMENTO TECNOLOGICO

a) Interessi di ricerca

Autore di oltre 170 pubblicazioni scientifiche, riguardanti l'esistenza e la regolarità della soluzione di equazioni non lineari derivanti dalla Fisica Matematica e l'applicazione dell'Analisi Funzionale alle equazioni dell'evoluzione. Negli ultimi anni gli interessi di ricerca si sono rivolti anche ai Modelli Matematici e alle applicazioni alla Finanza, alla Matematica Industriale e alla Blockchain (Crittografia). Negli ultimi anni ha studiato anche le architetture dei mondi ultraterreni della Divina Commedia. Recentemente si è dedicato alla pedagogia e in particolare all’insegnamento della matematica nella scuola.

In particolare, all’inizio della carriera, si è dedicato alla teoria dei semigruppi applicata alle equazioni di evoluzione sotto la guida del Prof. Giuseppe da Prato (Scuola Normale Superiore), successivamente, in collaborazione con il Prof. Emmanuele Di Benedetto (NorthWestern University- Vanderbilt University) e il Prof. Ugo Gianazza (Università di Pavia) si è occupato di problemi di regolarità per equazioni non lineari tipo p-Laplaciano e mezzi porosi. In questo ambito ha ottenuto i risultati migliori. Attualmente collabora con il mio studente di dottorato, Dr. Simone Ciani (RTdA a Bologna) su regolarità per operatori anisotropici. Le attività di ricerca sopra descritte si sono basate su un network internazionale come dimostrato dalle collaborazioni che appaiono nelle pubblicazioni scientifiche.

Per quanto riguarda le applicazioni, l’approccio seguito è quello della curiosity. Prima il sottoscritto si è dedicato alla matematica finanziaria per capire meglio il fenomeno dei rocket scientists della City (vari studenti lavorano in banche in Italia o in Europa), poi, l’aver insegnato per venti anni ad Informatica a Firenze, lo fa interessare alla digital transformation e alla tecnologia blockchain in particolare. Un convegno su Dante in Ecuador, a cui il sottoscritto ha casualmente partecipato, lo ha fatto appassionare della Scienza all’epoca di Dante. Infine, l’avere un incarico al MIM, lo sta portando a studiare l’apprendimento della matematica e a pubblicare su riviste di pedagogia. Attualmente il sottoscritto sta iniziando a studiare il mercato dell’energia e la crittografia post-quantica.

SUMMARY OF RESEARCH AND TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER ACTIVITIES

a) Research Interests

Author of over 170 scientific publications, covering the existence and regularity of the solution of nonlinear equations from mathematical physics and the application of functional analysis to evolutionary equations. In recent years, his research interests have also focused on mathematical models and their applications to finance, industrial mathematics, and blockchain (cryptography). In recent years, he has also studied the architecture of the otherworldly worlds of the Divine Comedy. Recently, he has focused on pedagogy, particularly mathematics teaching in schools.

In particular, early in his career, he focused on semigroup theory applied to evolution equations under the guidance of Professor Giuseppe da Prato (Scuola Normale Superiore). Subsequently, in collaboration with Professor Emmanuele Di Benedetto (NorthWestern University-Vanderbilt University) and Professor Ugo Gianazza (University of Pavia), he worked on regularity problems for nonlinear equations such as p-Laplacians and porous media. He achieved excellent results in this area. He currently collaborates with my doctoral student, Dr. Simone Ciani (RTdA in Bologna), on regularity problems for anisotropic operators. The research activities described above have been based on an international network, as demonstrated by the collaborations appearing in scientific publications.

Regarding applications, the approach followed is the curiosity approach. First, I focused on financial mathematics to better understand the phenomenon of rocket scientists in the City (several students work in banks in Italy or Europe). Then, having taught Computer Science in Florence for twenty years, I became interested in digital transformation and blockchain technology in particular. A conference on Dante in Ecuador, which I happened to attend, sparked a passion for science in Dante's time. Finally, my position at MIM is leading me to study mathematics learning and publish in educational journals. I'm currently starting to study the energy market and post-quantum cryptography.
