Academic profile

Michele Betti is an Associate Professor of Mechanics of Solids and Structures (Scienza delle Costruzioni) at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (DICEA), University of Florence, Italy.

Research Interests

Michele Betti research interests relate to the field of Structural Engineering. His research activity focuses on the identification of the static and dynamic behaviour of masonry structures and wooden elements, paying attention to the topic of structural health monitoring. Recent activities include the set-up of quality-based automated procedures with adaptive tracking for operational modal analysis, data analysis for long-term structural health monitoring and Bayesian-based modal updating procedures through the use of surrogate models.

Research recognition

Included in the Stanford/Elsevier “World’s Top 2% Scientists” lists for single-year citation impact in Civil Engineering in the 2020, 2022, 2024 and 2026 editions.
