Marco Uzielli è Professore Associato presso il Dipartimento di Ingegneria Civile e Ambientale dell’Università degli Studi di Firenze. E’ titolare dei corsi “Earthquake geotechnical engineering” e “Geotecnica dei rischi ambientali” presso la Scuola di Ingegneria, e del corso “Risk management for natural hazards” nell’ambito del corso di Dottorato internazionale “International Doctorate in Civil and Environmental Engineering.” E’ inoltre Socio Fondatore e Responsabile Scientifico di Georisk Engineering, spin-off accademico dell’Ateneo fiorentino, e del laboratorio congiunto “Geodynamos”.
A seguito del conseguimento del titolo di Dottore di Ricerca in Ingegneria Geotecnica presso l’Università di Firenze, Marco è stato Post-doctoral research fellow presso l’International Centre for Geohazards di Oslo. Dal 2008 al 2020 ha svolto attività di consulenza specialistica a livello internazionale nei settori della geotecnica probabilistica e dell'analisi di rischio da eventi naturali. Dal 2020 è rientrato in UniFi.
Marco è membro del Working Group “Climate Change Adaptation” dell’European Large Geotechnical Institutes Platform (ELGIP) e dei comitati tecnici TC219 “System performance in geotechnical engineering”, TC309 “Machine learning and big data”, e TC304 “Engineering practice of risk assessment and management” della International Society of Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering. E’ stato Visiting Researcher presso numerose istituzioni accademiche e professionali in Europa, Nord America e Asia.

Marco Uzielli is a Professor at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. He is the holder of the courses "Earthquake geotechnical engineering" and "Geotechnical engineering of environmental hazards" at the School of Engineering, and of the course "Risk management for natural hazards" as part of the International Doctorate course in Civil and Environmental Engineering. He is also a Founding Member and Scientific Director of Georisk Engineering, an academic spin-off of the University of Florence, and of the joint laboratory "Geodynamos."
Following the completion of his PhD in Geotechnical Engineering at the University of Florence, Marco was a Post-doctoral research fellow at the International Centre for Geohazards in Oslo. From 2008 to 2020, he was an international specialist consultant in the fields of probabilistic geotechnics and risk analysis from natural events.
Marco is a member of the Working Group "Climate Change Adaptation" of the European Large Geotechnical Institutes Platform (ELGIP) and the technical committees TC219 "System performance in geotechnical engineering," TC309 "Machine learning and big data," and TC304 "Engineering practice of risk assessment and management" of the International Society of Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering. He has been a Visiting Researcher at numerous academic and professional institutions in Europe, North America, and Asia.
