Alessia Brischetto, consegue il titolo di Laurea Magistrale in Design nel 2010 e quello di Dottore di Ricerca in Design (XXVII Ciclo) nel 2015 presso la scuola di Dottorato in Architettura dell’Università deli Studi di Firenze con una tesi dal titolo: “L’inclusione Sociale nel settore delle Learning Technologies: L’approccio Universal Design”. Oggi è Professore Associato per il SC 08/CEAR-08 - DESIGN, TECNOLOGIA DELL’ARCHITETTURA, ARCHITETTURA TECNICA E GESTIONE DELL’AMBIENTE COSTRUITO - SSD CEAR-08/D - DESIGN [ex. ICAR/13 - Disegno Industriale], presso l’Università degli Studi di Firenze - Dop. Architettura DiDA.
Dal 2022 al 2024 è stata Ricercatrice a Tempo Determinato di tipo B (L. 240, 30 dicembre 2010, art. 24, comma 3, lettera b) e dal 2019 è stata Ricercatrice a Tempo Determinato di tipo A (L. 240, 30 dicembre 2010, art. 24, comma 3, lettera a) per il SC 08/C1 - SSD ICAR 13 [CEAR-08/D], presso l’Università degli Studi di Firenze. È stata titolare di quattro Assegni di Ricerca (periodo 2013-2018) e Professore a Contratto (periodo 2015-2018) presso il Dipartimento di Architettura DiDA dell’Università degli Studi di Firenze. Dal 2011 per la stessa Università ha avuto ulteriori incarichi e contratti di ricerca. Attualmente è coordinatore scientifico del Laboratorio di Ergonomia & Design, prendendo parte a programmi di ricerca finanziati dalla Unione Europea, dalla regione Toscana e da aziende private.
Durante gli anni ha avuto l’opportunità di avviare molte attività di cooperazione e di scambio culturale nel settore scientifico disciplinare ICAR 13, tra cui: Universidade Federal de Santa Maria - UFSM, Departamento de Desenho Industrial, Brasile; ELISAVA School of Design and Engineering of Barcelona, Spagna; Lincoln School of Design, College of Arts, University of Lincoln, Regno Unito; Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Katowice, Polonia; Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava, Slovacchia.
È stata Visiting Professor presso He Xiangning College of Art & Design (China) e la School of Arts and Design, Lingnan Normal University (China).
Ha partecipato a oltre 50 congressi e convegni nazionali o internazionali (Washington D.C., USA; Orlando, USA; Melbourne, Australia, S. Maria, Brasile, Istanbul, Turchia) in qualità di relatore invitato o di membro del comitato scientifico (per conto dell’Università di Firenze), di cui 30 in qualità di relatore selezionato con blind peer-review. Al suo attivo ha più di 60 pubblicazioni, tra articoli in rivista, contributi in volume e monografie.
Dal 2016 fa parte, come socio ordinario, della Società Italiana del Design (SID) e della Società Italiana di Ergonomia (SIE), dal 2022 è membro del Technical Committee Ergonomics in Design for All (EinDfA) - International Ergonomics Association (IEA).
Nel 2020 ha collaborato all’istituzione di un gruppo di ricerca (direttivo SIE Toscana) composto da ricercatori e professionisti, che hanno organizzato il convegno “Ergonomia Pediatrica: giocare per crescere, crescere per giocare. il gioco nello sviluppo del bambino”, che ha ottenuto il patrocinio dall’Ospedale Mayer e dalla Società Italiana di Psicologia.
Dal 2016 all’attività̀ di ricerca affianca quella didattica attraverso i seguenti insegnamenti presso la Scuola di Architettura dell’Università̀ degli Studi di Firenze: Laboratorio di Progettazione II – Applicazioni - Product Design (A.A 2015/16, A.A. 2017/18); Laboratorio di Ergonomia per il Design presso il CdL in Disegno Industriale presso il CdL in Disegno Industriale (A.A 2018/19 – A.A 2020/21, A.A 2022/23); Laboratorio di Digital Design presso il CdLM in Design (A.A 2019/20 ad oggi) e Laboratorio di Design II – product (A.A 2023/2024).
Negli ultimi anni la sua attività di ricerca ha riguardato il settore dell’Inclusive Design e dell’Interaction Design in riferimento al settore delle Psicotecnologie e della Human Computer Interaction e più in generale il rapporto tra Design e Innovazione con particolare riferimento all’innovazione del sistema prodotto e ai fenomeni di innovazione legati alla trasformazione digitale contemporanea e al ruolo sociale del design.

È docente di Interactive Design dal 2015 e di Design for Everyday Objectsdal 2018 per la Tongji University (China). Per la stessa Università dal 2015 tiene seminari e conferenze sul design e l’innovazione rivolti a docenti e studenti. Dal 2019 svolge attività didattica all’interno del AAP Project CEAIE Shanghai, P.R. China Faculty Visit Programm (convenzione con il Dipartimento di Architettura DiDA – UNIFI), programma finalizzato alla formazione di studenti e docenti. Le sue attività di ricerca sono focalizzate sull’innovazione di prodotto e servizio, Human-Centred Design, Inclusive Design e Learning User Experience. Si occupa in particolare del Design di prodotti digitali e interattivi afferenti al settore dell'Educational Technologies e di ICT. Le sue ricerche sono finalizzate alla sperimentazione di strategie progettuali fianlizzate allo sviluppo di sistemi digitali inclusivi.

Alessia Brischetto obtained her Master’s Degree in Design in 2010 and her Ph.D. in Design (XXVII Cycle) in 2015 at the Doctoral School of Architecture at the University of Florence, with a dissertation titled: "Social Inclusion in the Learning Technologies Sector: The Universal Design Approach."
She is currently an Associate Professor in the Scientific Sector 08/CEAR-08/D - DESIGN, ARCHITECTURAL TECHNOLOGY, ARCHITECTURAL ENGINEERING AND MANAGEMENT OF BUILT ENVIRONMENT [CEAR-08/D] DESIGN, at the University of Florence. From 2022 to 2024, she was a Tenure-Track Researcher (Type B, according to Law 240, December 30, 2010, Art. 24, Paragraph 3, Letter B), and from 2019, she was a Fixed-Term Researcher (Type A, according to Law 240, December 30, 2010, Art. 24, Paragraph 3, Letter A) for the SC 08/C1 - SSD ICAR 13 [CEAR-08/D] at the University of Florence. She held four Research Fellowships (2013–2018) and served as an Adjunct Professor (2015–2018) at the Department of Architecture (DiDA) of the University of Florence. Since 2011, she has also undertaken various research assignments and contracts for the same university. She is currently the scientific coordinator of the Ergonomics & Design Laboratory, participating in research programs funded by the European Union, the Tuscany Region, and private companies.
Over the years, she has initiated numerous cooperation and cultural exchange activities in the ICAR 13 scientific-disciplinary sector, collaborating with institutions such as the Universidade Federal de Santa Maria - UFSM, Department of Industrial Design (Brazil); ELISAVA School of Design and Engineering of Barcelona (Spain); Lincoln School of Design, College of Arts, University of Lincoln (UK); Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Katowice (Poland); and the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava (Slovakia).
She has been a Visiting Professor at He Xiangning College of Art & Design (China) and the School of Arts and Design, Lingnan Normal University (China).
She has participated in over 50 national and international conferences (Washington D.C., USA; Orlando, USA; Melbourne, Australia; Santa Maria, Brazil; Istanbul, Turkey) as an invited speaker or scientific committee member (on behalf of the University of Florence), with 30 of these as a selected speaker through blind peer review. She has authored over 60 publications, including journal articles, book contributions, and monographs.
Since 2016, she has been a regular member of the Italian Society of Design (SID) and the Italian Society of Ergonomics (SIE). Since 2022, she has been a member of the Technical Committee Ergonomics in Design for All (EinDfA) of the International Ergonomics Association (IEA).
In 2020, she contributed to the establishment of a research group (SIE Tuscany board), composed of researchers and professionals, which organized the conference "Pediatric Ergonomics: Playing to Grow, Growing to Play. The Role of Play in Child Development." The event received sponsorship from the Meyer Children's Hospital and the Italian Society of Psychology.
Since 2016, alongside her research activities, she has been engaged in teaching at the School of Architecture at the University of Florence, offering courses such as:
In recent years, her research has focused on Inclusive Design and Interaction Design, particularly in relation to Psychotechnologies and Human-Computer Interaction (HCI). More broadly, she explores the intersection of Design and Innovation, with a focus on product system innovation, digital transformation, and the social role of design.
