Vincenzo Sorrentino si è laureato all’Università di Pisa nel 2014 con una tesi sulla “nazione fiorentina” a Napoli e si è poi addottorato a Firenze con una tesi sul mecenatismo della famiglia Del Riccio, mercanti fiorentini a Roma e Napoli tra Cinque e Seicento. La sua tesi di dottorato, rimaneggiata e tradotta in inglese, è stata pubblicata nel 2022 dall’editore Routledge.
È stato borsista presso l’Istituto Italiano per gli Studi Filosofici, il Medici Archive Project, la Fondazione 1563 per l’Arte e la Cultura e la Galleria Borghese e assegnista di ricerca presso le Università di Pisa e di Roma “Tor Vergata”. Ha pubblicato articoli e saggi su temi di storia del collezionismo e d’identità nazionale in età moderna, mentre è di prossima uscita una pubblicazione su alcune mostre d’antichi maestri tenutesi negli USA negli anni Ottanta.
A settembre 2024 ha preso servizio presso il Museo e Real Bosco di Capodimonte come curatore delle collezioni del XVII secolo; attualmente è RTT in Museologia e Critica d’arte e del restauro presso l’ateneo fiorentino.

Vincenzo Sorrentino graduated at the University of Pisa in 2014 with a thesis on the "Florentine nation" in Naples. Then he earned his PhD in Florence with a dissertation on the patronage of the Del Riccio family, Florentine merchants in Rome and Naples between the 16th and 17th centuries. His doctoral thesis, revised and translated into English, was published in 2022 by Routledge.

He has been fellow at the Istituto Italiano per gli Studi Filosofici, the Medici Archive Project, the Fondazione 1563 per l'Arte e la Cultura, and the Borghese Gallery, and has held research fellowships at the Universities of Pisa and Rome "Tor Vergata." He has written articles and essays on the history of collecting and national identity in the modern era, while a publication on some Old Master exhibitions held in the USA in the 1980s is forthcoming.

In September 2024, he joined the Museo e Real Bosco di Capodimonte (Naples) as curator of the 17th-century collections; he is currently assistant professor in Museology and Art Criticism and Restoration Theory at the University of Florence.
