I principali interessi di ricerca si collocano in area medievale (Giovanni Boccaccio), secentesca (la poesia giocosa e satirica) e otto-novecentesca (Alessandro Manzoni, Niccolò Tommaseo, Luigi Pirandello, Leonardo Sciascia, Italo Calvino). Si occupa dei generi letterari, in particolare del poema epico tra Medioevo e Rinascimento, della satira nel Seicento e del romanzo e della novella tra Otto e Novecento.

His main research interests lie in medieval literature (Giovanni Boccaccio), seventeenth-century literature (comic and satirical poetry), and nineteenth- and twentieth-century literature (Alessandro Manzoni, Niccolò Tommaseo, Luigi Pirandello, Leonardo Sciascia, Italo Calvino). His work focuses on literary genres, in particular the epic poem between the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, satire in the seventeenth century, and the novel and short story between the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.
