Alessia Gentile è docente a contratto di Cultura digitale per studi linguistico-letterari presso il Dipartimento FORLILPSI dell'Università degli Studi di Firenze. Ha studiato Lingue e letterature europee e americane (MA) e si è specializzata in Editoria (Master in Editoria cartacea e digitale). È attualmente membro editoriale di diverse riviste scientifiche (JEMS, SIJIS, LEA) e di una collana (BSFM) e svolge assiduamente attività di Peer Review. È membro della Italian Association of Shakespearean and Early Modern Studies (IASEMS).

Gli interessi di ricerca di Alessia Gentile spaziano dalla letteratura e cultura della prima età moderna alla storia del libro e dell'editoria. Ha scritto della figura letteraria di Mary Stuart indagando il suo ruolo di "scrittrice-monarca" ponendo attenzione all'analisi del noto "cofanetto delle lettere". Ha studiato, tramite l'analisi di opere teatrali contemporanee di autori inglesi e irlandesi e di dipinti, il ruolo dell'Inghilterra e - nello specifico - della dinastia Tudor nell'occupazione d'Irlanda. La sua attività di ricerca si articola in tre percorsi principali: i primi due sono legati al suo interesse nei confronti del periodo della prima età moderna, e si snodano nell'analisi della relazione tra letteratura e religione, nonché in quella della rappresentazione della figura della/del monarca nelle opere letterarie; il terzo è basato sulla storia del libro e dell'editoria e prende avvio non soltanto da un'analisi di tipo letterario di manoscritti e fonti archivistiche, ma anche da un'indagine "estetica" dell'oggetto libro e della sua evoluzione. Ha scritto dei caratteri tipografici tracciandone la storia evolutiva dalla loro nascita a oggi.
Alessia Gentile teaches Digital Cultur at the University of Florence. She is MA graduated in European and American Language and Literature and she holds a Master in Editoria cartacea e digitale. She is currently editorial member of several scholarly journals (JEMS, SIJIS, LEA) and a series (BSFM) and assiduously serves as a Peer Reviewer. She is member of the Italian Association of Shakespearean and Early Modern Studies (IASEMS).

Alessia Gentile's research interests range from early modern literature and culture to the history of books and publishing. She has written about the literary figure of Mary Stuart by investigating her role as "writer-monarch" paying attention to the analysis of the "Casket Letters." She has studied, through the analysis of contemporary plays by English and Irish authors and paintings, the role of England and - specifically - of the Tudor dynasty in the colonisation of Ireland. Her research activity is divided into three main paths: the first two are related to her interest in the early modern period and concern the analysis of the relationship between literature and religion, and the representation of the figure of the monarch in literary works; the third is based on the history of books and publishing and include not only from a literary-type analysis of manuscripts and archival sources, but also the "aesthetic" investigation of the book and its evolution. In this regard, she has written about typefaces by tracing their evolutionary history from their inception to the present.
