Biografia

Fabiana Di Ciaccio è Ricercatrice a Tempo Determinato (RTDa) in Geomatica (CEAR-04/A) presso il Dipartimento di Ingegneria Civile e Ambientale dell'Università degli Studi di Firenze e membro del laboratorio Geomatics for Environment and COnservation of Cultural Heritage (GECO). Ha conseguito il Dottorato di Ricerca con titolo di Doctor Europaeus in Environment, Resources and Sustainable Development - UNESCO Chair presso l'Università degli Studi di Napoli Parthenope ed è in possesso dell'Abilitazione Scientifica Nazionale (ASN) alle funzioni di Professore Associato nel settore della Geomatica.

La sua attività di ricerca è incentrata sull'integrazione tra Geomatica e Intelligenza Artificiale, con particolare riferimento a Telerilevamento, tecnologie UAV, Computer Vision, Machine e Deep Learning e Gemelli Digitali. I principali ambiti applicativi comprendono il monitoraggio ambientale e la Earth Observation, la documentazione e conservazione del Cultural Heritage, la valutazione dei rischi legati ai cambiamenti climatici, il monitoraggio costiero, le applicazioni in ambiente marino, la fotogrammetria subacquea e le tecniche di ricostruzione 3D. Partecipa a progetti di ricerca nazionali ed europei, tra cui CHANGES, CHEDAR ed ARTEMIS, e a collaborazioni scientifiche nazionali e internazionali.

È membro dell'ISPRS Working Group II/7 – Underwater Data Acquisition and Processing e della società scientifica AUTeC. Svolge attività di Guest Editor per riviste scientifiche internazionali nei settori del Remote Sensing, della Computer Vision e dell'Intelligenza Artificiale e attività di revisione per riviste e conferenze internazionali. Partecipa inoltre all'organizzazione scientifica di workshop e Special Session internazionali, tra cui il Workshop on Machine Vision for Earth Observation and Environment Monitoring (MVEO @ BMVC), l'International Workshop on Computer Vision for Environment Monitoring and Preservation (CVEMP) e Special Session dell'IEEE International Workshop on Metrology for the Sea (MetroSea).

Segue inoltre studenti di Laurea Magistrale nello svolgimento di tesi e tirocini curriculari, con particolare riferimento alla Geomatica, al Telerilevamento, al monitoraggio ambientale e all'analisi di dati geospaziali.

Fabiana DI CIACCIO

Biography

Fabiana Di Ciaccio is an Assistant Professor (RTDa) in Geomatics (CEAR-04/A) at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering of the University of Florence and a member of the Geomatics for Environment and COnservation of Cultural Heritage (GECO) Laboratory. She holds a PhD with the Doctor Europaeus distinction in Environment, Resources and Sustainable Development - UNESCO Chair from Parthenope University of Naples and the Italian National Scientific Qualification (ASN) for Associate Professor in Geomatics.

Her research focuses on the integration of Geomatics and Artificial Intelligence, with particular emphasis on Remote Sensing, UAV technologies, Computer Vision, Machine and Deep Learning, and Digital Twins. Her research interests include environmental monitoring and Earth Observation, Cultural Heritage documentation and conservation, climate-related risk assessment, shoreline monitoring, marine and coastal applications, underwater photogrammetry, and 3D reconstruction. She is currently involved in national and European research projects, including CHANGES, CHEDAR and ARTEMIS, and in national and international scientific collaborations.

Dr. Di Ciaccio is a member of ISPRS Working Group II/7 – Underwater Data Acquisition and Processing and of the AUTeC Society. She serves as Guest Editor for international journals in the fields of Remote Sensing, Artificial Intelligence and Computer Vision, and regularly acts as a reviewer for international journals and conferences. Her scientific service includes the organization of international workshops and special sessions, including the Workshop on Machine Vision for Earth Observation and Environment Monitoring (MVEO @ BMVC), the International Workshop on Computer Vision for Environment Monitoring and Preservation (CVEMP), and Special Sessions at the IEEE International Workshop on Metrology for the Sea (MetroSea).

She supervises Master's students in thesis research and curricular internships, particularly in the fields of Geomatics, Remote Sensing, environmental monitoring and geospatial data analysis.
