RESEARCH ACTIVITY
My research activity focuses on the study of sedimentology and inorganic geochemistry aimed at paleoclimatic and paleoceanographic reconstructions, with a particular focus on geological records characterized by extensive global or supra-regional organic matter accumulation. The objective of these studies is to understand the environmental response to perturbations in the land-ocean-atmosphere system. I utilize sedimentology and inorganic geochemistry to reconstruct the physical and chemical conditions of surface and bottom waters in oceans. Additionally, I analyze the processes responsible for the deposition of organic facies across various environments, from continental to deep marine settings. This research theme is complemented by chemostratigraphy with stable isotopes of C and O and cyclostratigraphy aimed at providing and/or enhancing temporal control, a fundamental requirement for high-resolution studies.
