Legenda
Andrea Bonini received his Master’s degree with honors in Industrial Chemistry in 2018, followed by a Ph.D. in Chemistry and Materials Science in 2022 from the Department of Chemistry and Industrial Chemistry at the University of Pisa. His doctoral research focused on electroanalytical chemistry, with a particular emphasis on developing novel biosensing strategies. During this period, he spent nine months as a visiting researcher at the Catalan Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ICN2), working in the field of bioelectronics and biosensors.
After completing his Ph.D., he began a postdoctoral position at the University of Pisa in the Department of Biology (Microbiology Section), where he continued developing electrochemical biosensors, primarily for bacterial detection. In January 2023, he moved to the University of Groningen (The Netherlands) as a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Single Molecule and Biophysics Group. His research there focused on nanopore-based single-molecule strategies for protein identification and sequencing, as part of a project funded by the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH).
In September 2025, he joined the Department of Chemistry at the University of Florence as a tenure-track Assistant Professor (RTT) in Analytical Chemistry.
He is also co-founder of Metitech, a spin-off of the University of Pisa focused on developing innovative sensor-based technologies and analytical methods for chemical analysis.
