Veronica BUCCIANTINI

Biografia

Veronica Bucciantini dopo aver conseguito il Dottorato di ricerca in Storia Antica (Università degli Studi di Firenze 2006), ha svolto attività di ricerca presso il Department of Classics della Brown University di Providence, ed è stata collaboratrice scientifica al Präsidialbüro del Deutsches Archäologisches Institut di Berlin (2008-2011). Successivamente ha usufruito di una borsa di studio Gerda Henkel presso il Seminar für Alte Geschichte della Albert-Ludwigs Universität di Freiburg im Breisgau (2011-2013). Dal 2008 al 2017 ha coordinato il progetto di continuazione dell’opera di Felix Jacoby FGrHist V (Die Geographen) e dal 2013 al 2017 è stata docente a contratto (Storia Greca) all’Università degli Studi di Firenze. Nel semestre invernale 2015/2016 è stata Gastprofessorin presso la Katholische Universität Eichstätt-Ingolstadt e nel 2017 ha usufruito di una borsa di studio per Directeurs d'Etudes Associés presso Fondation Maison des Sciences de l'Homme (Paris) in collaborazione con il Laboratoire AOrOc École Normale supérieure. Nel 2019 ha tenuto il Laboratorio di Geografia storica del mondo antico all’Università di Udine. Dal marzo 2020 è professore associato di Storia Greca (LANT/02) al Dipartimento di Lettere e Filosofia (DILEF) dell’Università di Firenze. Dal 2020 organizza annualmente un seminario internazionale di Geografia antica a Firenze e nell’aprile 2022 ha ottenuto il finanziamento dalla Deutsche Forschungs Gemeinschaft per un convegno organizzato con M. Rathmann (Katolische Universität Eichstätt Ingolstadt) a Villa Vigoni (Co) riguardo Penisole e istmi come fattori geografici e spazi di scambio o di isolamento. Nel settembre 2022 ha organizzato una Conferenza con tutti gli allievi internazionali di H-J.Gehkre alla Albert-Ludwigs Universität di Freiburg i.Br. Nel novembre 2023 è stata Visiting Researcher all’Università di Eichstätt. Nel dicembre 2024 è stata invitata alla Kommission für Alte Geschichte und Epigraphik des Deutschen Archäologischen institut a Monaco di Baviera. Dal 2020 è coeditor (con Frank Daubner Trier Universität) per la sezione recensioni di Orbis Terrarum internaztionale Zeitschrift für die Historische Geographie der alten Welt e dal 2021 è nel Comitato direttivo della Ernst Kirsten Gesellschaft, Internationale Gesellschaft für Historische Geographie der Alten Welt.

Biography

Veronica Bucciantini, after obtaining her PhD in Ancient History (University of Florence 2006), carried out research at the Department of Classics of Brown University in Providence, and was a scientific collaborator at the Präsidialbüro of the Deutsches Archäologisches Institut in Berlin (2008-2011). She subsequently held a Gerda Henkel fellowship at the Seminar für Alte Geschichte of the Albert-Ludwigs Universität in Freiburg im Breisgau (2011-2013). From 2008 to 2017 she coordinated the continuation project of Felix Jacoby's work FGrHist V (Die Geographen) and from 2013 to 2017 she was an adjunct lecturer (Greek History) at the University of Florence. In the winter semester 2015/2016 she was Gastprofessorin at the Katholische Universität Eichstätt-Ingolstadt and in 2017 she benefited from a fellowship for Directeurs d'Etudes Associés at Fondation Maison des Sciences de l'Homme (Paris) in collaboration with the Laboratoire AOrOc École Normale supérieure. In 2019, he held the Laboratory of Historical Geography of the Ancient World at the University of Udine. Since March 2020 he has been Associate Professor of Greek History (LANT/02) at the Department of Humanities and Philosophy (DILEF) of the University of Florence. Since 2020 he has been organising an annual international seminar on ancient geography in Florence, and in April 2022 he obtained funding from the Deutsche Forschungs Gemeinschaft for a conference organised with M. Rathmann (Katolische Universität Eichstätt Ingolstadt) in Villa Vigoni (Co) on peninsulas and isthmuses as geographical factors and spaces of exchange or isolation. In September 2022, she organised a conference with all international students of H-J.Gehkre at the Albert-Ludwigs Universität in Freiburg i.Br. In November 2023, she was Visiting Researcher at the University of Eichstätt. In December 2024, she was invited to join the Commission for Ancient History and Epigraphy of the German Archaeological Institute in Munich. Since 2020, she has been co-editor (with Frank Daubner Trier Universität) for the reviews section of Orbis Terrarum internaztionale Zeitschrift für die Historische Geographie der alten Welt and since 2021 she has been on the Steering Committee of the Ernst Kirsten Gesellschaft, Internationale Gesellschaft für Historische Geographie der Alten Welt.

Graduated in Literature (classical studies) from the Faculty of Literature and Philosophy at the University of Florence with a thesis on Greek History and a note of 110/110 cum laude.

Postgraduate course in Problems and methods of geographical research: landscape and territory, theories and policies at the University of Florence.
