Curriculum
Gabriella Caminati si laurea in Chimica all’ Universita’ degli Studi di Firenze nel 1985. Nel gennaio 1986 vince una borsa di studio “Federchimica-CNR” e successivamente una borsa di studio “Eniricerche” per svolgere la sua’ attivita’ di ricerca presso il Dipartimento di Chimica dell’ Universita’ di Firenze fino al novembre 1988. Nel 1991 consegue il titolo di Dottore di Ricerca in Scienze Chimiche presso l’Universita’ degli Studi di Firenze svolgendo parte della sua attivita’ presso Dipartimento di Chimica della Columbia University a New York e nel Laboratorio di Fotofisica delle Interfasi del Max-Planck Institute für Biophysikalische Chemie in Göttingen. Nel 1991 vince un posto di Funzionario Tecnico presso l”universita’ di Firenze. Dal giugno 1993 al giugno 1994 lavora presso il Dipartimento di Chimica della Columbia University a New York, sotto la direzione del Prof. N.J. Turro in qualita' di PostDoc researcher. Dal 1995 al 1996 svolge la propria attivita’ di ricerca presso Ecole Normale superieure de Lyon in Francia ed e’ Visiting Scientist nel laboratorio del Prof. D. Mobius al Max-Planck Institute für Biophysikalische Chemie in Göttingen nel 1995 e 1997. Dal 2001 e’ ricercatore confermato e professore aggregato presso il Dipartimento di Chimica dell’Universita’ di Firenze. Gli interessi di ricerca della Dottoressa Gabriella Caminati si collocano nel campo della chimica fisica dei sistemi micro e nanoeterogenei con particolare riguardo alle seguenti tematiche principali. 1. Chimica-fisica di fenomeni interfasali ed organizzazione di sistemi supramolecolari organizzati. Monostrati di spandimento e di adsorbimento. Sistemi microeterogenei: micelle, vescicole, microemulsioni, dendrimeri Starburst, dispersioni solido-liquido. Applicazioni al recupero conservativo opere d’arte . 2. Chimica-fisica di biomembrane mimetiche: bistrati supportati e liposomi. Riconoscimento molecolare. Interazioni membrana-farmaci. Studio di processi biofisici in membrane mimetiche: fibrillazione cardiaca, demielinizzazione in malattie autoimmuni, processi fotosintetici, formazione beta-amiloide e approcci terapeutici alle malattie neurodegenerative. Trasporto del farmaco con nanomateriali bioispirati . 3. Fotofisica e fotochimica in geometrie ristrette e sistemi confinati. Processi di trasferimento di carica e di energia in sistemi nano- e micro-eterogenei. 4. Realizzazione e caratterizzazione nuovi materiali: Langmuir-Blodgett films, Self-Assembled Monolayers, Layer-by-Layer ed architetture miste, nanoparticelle polimeriche core-shell e capsule di polielettroliti con funzione di sensori chimici e biochimici, nanosistemi per OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diodes), PLED (Polymer Light Emitting Diodes e PhOLED (Phosphorescent OLED); di celle solari di terza generazione sia basate su polimeri (bulk heterojunction) sia di tipo DSSC (Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells).

Gabriella CAMINATI
Curriculum
Gabriella Caminati received her Bachelor Degree (Laurea) in Chemistry in 1985 at the University of Florence and her Ph.D. in Chemical Sciences in 1991 from the same Universiy. She was awarded a “Federchimica-CNR” research grant and an “Eniricerche” fellowship to continue her research work in Department of Chemistry in Florence. From 1993 to 1994 she was a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Chemistry of Columbia University in New York (USA) with N.J. Turro. In 1995 she was awarded a research grant to work in the laboratory of Prof. A, Collet at the Ecole Normale Supérieure de Lyon (France). She worked as Visiting Scientist with Prof. D. Mobius at the Max-Planck-Institut für Biophysikalische Chemie in Göttingen (Germany) in 1990, 1995 and 1997. In 1991 she joined the Department of Chemistry the University of Florence and she has been a faculty member since 2001 of the same university where she teaches Physical Chemistry of Molecularly Organized Systems and Science and Technology of Colour. Her research interests span from physical chemistry of micro-heterogeneous and biomimetic systems to photophysics in confined environments with special focus on the fabrication of nanorganized stuctures for sensing applications as wella as Organic Emitting Diodes and 3rd generation solar cells.
