Legenda
I am an associate professor at the Department of Earth Sciences of the University of Florence. I received my degree in Geological Sciences in 1991 and my PhD in Earth Sciences in 1995. My research focuses mainly on the paleogeography and deformational history of areas connected to continental rifts and orogenic belts.
I have held various academic and professional roles throughout my career. Since 2001, I have been a researcher at the Faculty of Mathematical, Physical and Natural Sciences of the University of Florence. I obtained the qualification to practice as a geologist in 1992 and worked as a Technical Professional Geologist Executive Instructor at the Civil Engineering Department of Pisa and Florence.
My scientific research focuses on several geological areas, including the Ethiopian-Eritrean margin and the Red Sea coast, Madagascar, the Northern Apennines and Morocco. I have published numerous scientific articles and participated in geological survey projects in various regions.

MAIN SCIENTIFIC INTEREST
Paleogeography and deformational history of areas connected to continental rifts and orogenic belts through stratigraphic and sedimentological analysis. In particular:1. Ethiopian-Eritrean margin and Red Sea coast. Tectono-sedimentary events related to the Pleistocene evolution of the margin.a) Study of the modalities of the uplift of the rift margins and the development of adjacent depressions obtained from the analysis of the sedimentary successions of the basins and their deformational history.b) Ecosystem of Pleistocene hominids and their possible dispersal routes from East Africa to Europe and Asia, with reference to sedimentary dynamics and climatic variations.2. Madagascar. Evolution of the conjugate margin of Madagascar and East Africa through the study of the Permo-Cretaceous depositional systems of the Mahajanga and Diego-Suarez (Antsiranana) basins.3. Northern Apennines. Study of the depositional systems of the Tuscan foredeep (Arenarie del Cervarla and Macigno) and of the post-collisional basins (Mugello, Baccinello and Fiume Santo basins). Geological survey of sectors of the Northern Apennines
