Elena Lenci è ricercatore a tempo determinato in Chimica Organica presso il Dipartimento di Chimica dell'Università di Firenze. Ha conseguito il titolo di Doctor Europaeus n Scienze Chimiche nel 2017 presso l'Università di Firenze, dopo un periodo di formazione all'University of Oxford (UK). Ha pubblicato più di 40 articoli scientifici e ha editato il libro Small Molecule Drug Discovery (Elsevier, 2019). Ha ricevuto diversi riconoscimenti, tra cui il Reaxys SCI Young Researcher Award (2015), il EYCN/NATCHEMDRUGS International Award for Young Chemists (2017) e il Premio alla Ricerca Junior “Chimica Organica per le Scienze della Vita”. Gli interessi di ricerca riguardano la sintesi e l'analisi chemoinformatica di molecole bioattive, con applicazioni di Drug Discovery in campo oncologico, delle malattie infettive e neurodegenerative. E' stata consigliere (2016-2020) e coordinatore (2020-2021) del Gruppo Giovani della Società Chimica Italiana, delegato italiano nel Gruppo Giovani della Società Europea EuCheMS (2019) e Young Observer nell'organizzazione IUPAC (dal 2021).

Dr Lenci graduated cum laude in Chemical Sciences at the University of Florence in 2013 and received the Doctor Europaeus PhD title in Organic Chemistry in 2017, after spending a research period at the University of Oxford, UK. Since 2022 she is Assistant Professor at the Department of Chemistry "Ugo Schiff" of the University of Florence. Her scientific activities include the implementation of novel synthetic approaches for the generation of compounds with medicinal chemistry applications, especially in the field of cancer and infective diseases, and the chemoinformatic analysis of chemical libraries. She received several awards: Reaxys - Italian Chemical Society Young Researcher Award (2015); International Award for Young Chemists ”NATCHEMDRUGS” (2017); and the Organic Chemistry for Life Sciences Award Junior from the Italian Chemical Society (2021). She is author of more than 40 peer-reviewed articles and she edited the book "Small Molecules Drug Discovery" published in 2019 from Elsevier. Besides her scientific activities, she has been Board Member (2016-2020) and then coordinator (2020-2021) of the Young Group of the Italian Chemical Society, national delegate of the European Young Chemistry Network (EYCN) (2019) and Italian Young Observer in IUPAC (from 2021).
