Davide Turrini è professore associato di disegno industriale presso l’Università degli Studi di Firenze.
La sua attività di ricerca riguarda le aree tematiche della storia e della critica del design (con particolare riferimento alle fenomenologie identitarie del design italiano); del rapporto tra design e manifattura; della relazione tra design e materiali, dalla prospettiva storica agli scenari dell’innovazione contemporanea; del design per la sostenibilità sociale e ambientale.
Davide Turrini è curatore di mostre e progetti editoriali presso prestigiose istituzioni scientifiche in Italia e all’estero ed e stato invitato a presentare i risultati dei suoi studi e delle sue ricerche in numerosi convegni internazionali a Chicago, Firenze, Lisbona, Londra, Marsiglia, Milano, New York, Parigi, Roma, Valencia.
Davide Turrini è responsabile scientifico di progetti di ricerca, direttore di collane editoriali e membro dei comitati scientifici o editoriali di numerose riviste scientifiche. Dal 2005 a oggi è autore o curatore di oltre 150 pubblicazioni scientifiche tra monografie; articoli in rivista di classe A; contributi in volume, in atti di convegno o in rivista scientifica.
Dal 2010 a oggi è stato titolare di insegnamenti universitari di Ecodesign, Design della Comunicazione, Design dell’Allestimento, Curating e Art Direction, Scenari della Moda. Partecipa inoltre con continuità alle collegiali di dottorato di ricerca di diversi programmi dottorali. E’ stato visiting teacher presso l’Istanbul Technical University – Department of Industrial Product Design, l’Universitat Politecnica de Valencia – Escuela Tecnica Superior de Ingenieria del Diseño e la Hochscule fur Technik Stuttgart.

Davide Turrini is Associate Professor of Industrial Design at the University of Florence.
His research focuses on the design history and criticism (with particular reference to the identity of Italian design); the links between design and manufacturing; the relationship between design and materials, from the historical perspective to contemporary innovation; and design for social and environmental sustainability.
Davide Turrini is curator of exhibitions and editorial projects for several scientific institutions in Italy and abroad and has been invited to present his studies at international conferences in Chicago, Florence, Lisbon, London, Marseilles, Milan, New York, Paris, Rome and Valencia.
Davide Turrini is PI of research projects, editor of book series and member of the scientific or editorial boards of several scientific journals. Since 2005 to date he has authored or edited more than 150 scientific publications including monographs; articles in class A journals; contributions in volumes, conference proceedings or scientific journals.
From 2010 to date he has held university teaching positions in Ecodesign, Communication Design, Exhibition Design, Curating and Art Direction, and Fashion Scenarios. He also takes part in the PhD advisory boards of several doctoral programmes. He has been a visiting teacher at the Istanbul Technical University - Department of Industrial Product Design; the Universitat Politecnica de Valencia - Escuela Tecnica Superior de Ingenieria del Diseño and the Hochscule fur Technik Stuttgart.
